If we could only shop at one store in Copenhagen it would be…
Jeanette: Until our own store opens, I will continue to shop a lot at Illum, a luxury department store in Copenhagen. It has a fantastic selection of luxury brands, especially when it comes to shoes. You can find all the best designers there – think Alaïa, Margiela, Miu Miu, The Row, Prada etc.
Thora: I really like shopping at Naked. It’s a boutique store that started by selling really cool sneakers for women, but it’s recently opened a bigger site and now stocks amazing homeware, accessories and ready-to-wear. The selection is very carefully curated and supports a lot of up-and-coming designers.
The coolest jewellery boutique in Copenhagen is...
J: Elhanati. That brand’s entire universe is so beautiful.
T: The Marlene Juhl Jorgensen boutique in central Copenhagen. It’s a Copenhagen institution, where you can find a diverse selection of pieces, from simple silver to fine and luxury jewellery – there really is something for all budgets.
The best shopping destination for small, independent brands is…
T: There are lovely independent shops all over Copenhagen, so we suggest jumping on a bike and exploring the different areas. It’s especially good if you’re into interior design, with lots of stores offering one-off interior design gems, like Beau Marche and Hvornum.
Our most recent brand discovery is...
J: Giacca – it’s a small Swedish brand. The owner started with just with one piece– a statement blazer with big broad shoulders and two different fit options. Now she has a dress and a top and more pieces coming, but it’s so admirable to see someone start out on their own and flourish so quickly.
T: I am loving streetwear brand Planta Rosa. The aesthetic is really cool, casual but fun, and everything it does feels modern. It’s just something different and really fits with my personal style.
The most unexpected destination for great fashion is...
J: You can go pretty much anywhere in Copenhagen and people will be well dressed. The central boroughs like Copenhagen C, Vesterbro, Nørrebro, Østerbro and Frederiksberg C, are where you will find some great stores, but if you go outside of the centre you start to see amazing boutiques in places like Amager or Nordvest.
The best vintage store in Copenhagen is...
T: We have so many amazing vintage stores in Copenhagen, ranging from both luxury to reasonable in price. On Studiestræde you will find stores like Wasteland, Episode, KBH K, Vera’s. Then, you have the more curated experiences such as Paloma, Jerome Vintage, Times Up and Prag, which is great.
Our favourite vintage pieces we’ve ever bought came from…
J: Mine would have to be my lamp – it is a Quadrifoglio Table Lamp by Harvey Guzzini, which I found at Lot Particulier.
T: My best vintage buy was a pair of Chanel sandals which I got on Vestiaire.
For repairs and alterations, the best place in the city is...
T: Noori Skrædderi v/ Hashim Noori – it's not fancy but it is the best. It’s in a basement and is a family-run business, and they can do anything.
The best place for people watching is...
T: Fiskebaren in Kødbyen (Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District) – grab a drink and a window seat and watch the mix of people that come through.
J: Esmee on Kongens Nytorv – it is a classic spot. Kongens Nytorv is in the very centre of the city, so there is always a mix of locals and visitors out and about.
The best place for coffee is...
J: Beau Marche Cafe og Vins – it always comes served in a nice cup and it’s not too strong.
T: My local spot, Københavns Bageri in Carsberg Byen.
The best restaurant in Copenhagen is...
J: Italo Thai – it's a small, cosy spot serving simple, easy, delicious Italian and Thai food, with a great atmosphere.
T: I think it would be Circolo for me – the steak is incredible, and they have a lovely wine list.
A new social spot worth visiting is...
J: Delphine – the vibe is the best, it’s always busy so the people watching is great, and they have amazing drinks. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends and to start (or finish) the night.
T: Den Lille Blå Vinbar is a hidden gem in Copenhagen. It’s a little natural wine bar that is relatively undiscovered, the interiors are chic, and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm.
The coolest restaurant/bar is...
J: Ambra is the place to be right now. It is a restaurant that turns into a party place once the sun goes down. It stays open late and the drinks are flowing, but the food is also really good.
T: Pluto is a classic choice, but it’s where you will find the Copenhagen ‘It’ crowd on a Friday night. It’s the relaxed atmosphere that makes people feel like they can let their hair down.
The best Copenhagen hotel is...
J: Hotel Sanders. It’s also one of our favourite spots to grab a drink and hang out.
