Adrienne Everett Shares Her AM & PM Routine
Movement
“Although I’m a yoga instructor, my non-negotiable in movement is dancing. It sets the tone for my day and keeps me energised. My go-to song is Champion by Keinemusik. Of course, I also integrate yoga into my routine, ensuring I practise sun salutations and gratitude during the day. I prefer Vinyasa flow because it’s the type of yoga that I’m trained in. The amount of time I spend on yoga varies every day, which is the beauty of my practice. Some days I can do a full hour and really pour everything into my practice and some days I just do a stretch before getting my day started. The time I spend on the mat can be anywhere between five minutes to an hour and a half. I really feel like you can do yoga anywhere, it’s not only a physical body movement but also a mental practice. My best advice for anyone short on time or new to yoga is to incorporate it into their day-to-day activities. For example, if you’re commuting in your car, seated while working, or anything else, give yourself a stretch. Let everything flow and let your practice grow.”
Nutrition
“Nutrition-wise, I always prioritise balance. One non-negotiable is having an açaí smoothie from Feels everyday as my sweet, healthy treat (and sometimes a meal replacement). Feels is a healthy restaurant spot with several locations throughout the city and my favourite is the one by the beach. I like going there to socialise with my friends – the space is amazing, and they make everything look so pretty. I drink a lot of water and I also incorporate the Alo Superfood Multivitamins daily. When I have the time, I enjoy using my juicer to make my own homemade celery juice.”
AM Routine
“Morning and night-time routines are what ground me. I open my eyes with so much gratitude every morning. As soon as I’m up, I normally reach for my phone to open the Bible app which puts me in a spiritual mindset to positively set my intention for the day. I try now, in my entrepreneurship space, to take it easy. I don’t necessarily have a set time that I wake up every day. In terms of my morning skincare routine, I try not to wash my face with soap. If I wore a lot of make-up the previous night and I feel like I need a second cleanse in the morning then I will, but most days I will use a damp cloth to clean my face with only water. I’m all about my skincare and have more products than a cupboard can hold, because skincare regimens shift with emotions, the weather and your location. Right now, I’m keeping it simple. I use game-changing cleansing face towels from Bamteek (thanks to my good friend Nazly Firas), an organic carrot oil from Whole Foods and the Heliocare SPF 50 sunscreen every morning.”
PM Routine
“I end my days with a calming chamomile tea and a good meditation (a transformative hack I learned from Sabrina Isabel). But I also love a bath. After a long day of teaching, I look forward to coming home and having a bath with salts. I’m also a big reader. I have a small selection of books that I read repeatedly, and one of them is Manifest by Roxie Nafousi; it’s beautiful. I also listen to some of Deepak Chopra’s meditations before I go to bed. For skincare in the evening, I use the CeraVe Gentle Skin Cleanser and I also love the Bamford Night Oil (a steal from my bestie Nour Rizk). It’s so nice and light and doesn’t break me out. I feel like I wake up fresh the next day from using it.
Make-Up
“I only wear make-up on a night out – it keeps my pores clean and makes my skincare routines more effective. I love all things Giorgio Armani, Guerlain, and Chanel. I use the Le Volume de Chanel mascara, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, the Dior Lip Glow Oils and any/all of the Guerlain blushes.”
Haircare
For my hair, I always use a leave-in conditioner to keep it moisturised because I know the water can be quite harsh here in Dubai. My favourite is the MahaMane Leave in Conditioner by Fable & Mane. I’m a total convert to Fable & Mane products – the smell, the feel, the hair growth, how it works on my hair– it’s all amazing. I also really love Charlotte Mensah’s hair care range – all her oils are very aligned with ethnic hair like mine. On my non-wash days, I use the Fable & Mane HoliRoots Hair Oil and let that sit during the day. I typically pull my hair back in a bun but sometimes I try to let it be a little less tight to prevent breakage. I alternate between a low bun, a mid-bun and a high bun so I don’t pull my hair into a single area each time. I always use a Tangleteezer brush because although my hair is quite fine, it’s curly and I need it to prevent breakage as well.”
