A Fashion Tech Founder Shares Her Current Favourite Things

As the founder and CEO of SEPT, the tech-first luxury sourcing platform transforming how women shop across the Middle East and beyond, Yara Aldhaen has an impeccable eye for rare pieces, emerging trends and the hottest trends. With a distinct point of view and a growing influence across the region’s fashion landscape, we were curious to see what’s on her own radar right now…

1. The Shoe

Right now, I’m living in my Loro Piana  heeled Summer Charms in suede. They’re the most comfortable heels I own. I wore them for 12 hours at a wedding and my feet didn’t ache once. The suede is soft, the heel height is perfect and there’s this understated elegance to them that makes them work with everything. I ended up getting a second colour because when something is this good, I know I’ll wear it forever. They’re sold out practically everywhere, but the SEPT personal shoppers managed to track them down for me.

2. The Sunglasses

I’ve been reaching for my Sun Suns constantly. They’re a Khaliji-owned eyewear brand, handmade in Italy in very limited runs. They have that Jacques Marie Mage boldness but with a distinctly regional attitude and transform even the simplest of outfits.

3. The Party Piece

I’m obsessed with this new Destre jacket with the fur-cuffed sleeves. It feels like a modern heirloom – dramatic in the right way and still easy to wear. It instantly makes any look feel a bit more festive.

4. The Denim

My go-to right now is the AGOLDE 90s Pinch Waist straight-leg jeans. They have that vintage look I love, but are soft enough to be comfortable all day. I end up reaching for them constantly.

5. The Trend

I’m really into fur-collared blazers at the moment and this Valentino number is giving a 90s mum vibe in the best way. It feels nostalgic and cool, and I love how people are styling it with simpler pieces. It’s cosy, feminine and a little cheeky.

6. The Bag

I’m in a big bag era – I want something that carries my entire life but still feels structured and architectural. Lately, I’ve been alternating between Phoebe Philo’s Small Kit Cabas and The Row’s Margaux 15. Both bags are such beautiful examples of restraint: quiet design, incredible structure, and silhouettes that just get better with age. They suit the way I work – always on the go, always carrying far more than I intend but wanting everything to look intentional.

7. The Jewellery

We just wrapped the shoot in London for SEPT’s official Fine Jewellery launch and it’s one of the most inspiring projects I’ve worked on. Spending time with houses like Hiba JaberMaison TjoengSWE MEMelis Goral, and Nada Ghazal reminded me why I love jewellery so much. Each designer approaches craftsmanship differently: some with architectural precision, others with emotion and storytelling. Seeing their pieces on set, watching how they catch the light and hearing their creative processes made me fall in love with jewellery all over again. I can’t wait to share our BTS vlog.

8. The Ski Wear

For ski season, I gravitate toward pieces that feel refined but are genuinely functional. Guest in Residence has become my go-to for knitted layers – the cashmere feels luxurious without being too delicate, and the colour palettes are so well done. For outerwear and trousers, I always end up at Fusalp. The silhouettes are smart, technical and completely unfussy, which is exactly what I want.

9. The Jacket

After watching the Victoria Beckham documentary, I became obsessed with the high turtleneck leather jacket she wore – it was structured, minimal and had that sharp VB energy. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. In person, it’s even better: buttery leather, clean lines and a silhouette that instantly elevates whatever I’m wearing.

10. The Beauty Essential

I’ve been testing a brand called BINURI, a science-led wellness brand creating supplements specifically for GCC women, and I’m genuinely impressed. It feels thoughtful, targeted and actually aligned with the needs of women in this region, which you don’t see often in wellness. As for skincare, I’m never without Jan Marini’s Vitamin C + Face Luminate; it brightens, lifts and has this instant-fresh effect I love first thing in the morning. Rhode’s Milky Glaze gives me a soft, natural natural glow, and Violette FR’s Bisou Balm in Bonbon Coquelicot is as close as I’ve ever come to the perfect French-girl lip – effortless, slightly blurred, and never too “done”.

11. The Beauty Ritual

My mornings always begin with two rituals. First: an ice bucket face plunge – the depuffing is immediate and the dopamine jolt genuinely shifts my mood. Then I use my TheraFace device: the cooling setting in the morning to soothe, the warming setting in the evening to help my products sink in more deeply. It’s simple but unbelievably effective.

12. The Scent

Fragrance is an emotional thing for me and my current rotation all speaks to different moods. Victoria Beckham’s Portofino ’97 is everything I love: fresh, elegant, sunlit – it feels like a Mediterranean morning. LORE’s Lovely But a Little Twisted is addictive and modern and then there’s Kayali’s Milky Oud – Mona Kattan’s take on oud is airy, clean and deeply Arab without being heavy.

13. The Wellness Ritual

I always return to Lagree. I don’t go for mindfulness – I go because I genuinely enjoy it. It’s become a social ritual where I catch up with friends and family, and it delivers results that feel more transformative than anything I’ve tried in Pilates. It keeps me grounded, energised, and strong. Skulpt studio in Bahrain is my favourite, it's very intimate.

14. The Book

I’m currently reading Thinking in Bets, which a friend recommended. It’s a strategic, sharp look at decision-making, and reading it while growing SEPT has been especially meaningful. It makes you re-evaluate how you judge outcomes, risks and timing – all things I think about daily.

15. The Tablescaping Essential

I love Fiona Finds. Her boutique near Sloane Square is one of my must-visits whenever I’m in London. Everything she sources feels personal.

16. The Lunch Spot

Whenever I’m in Bahrain, I find myself back at Fish Market. It’s understated and reliably good. It’s one of those places where the atmosphere is simple and you always leave feeling satisfied. It’s my comfort choice.

17. The Dream Holiday Destination

Right now, my travel fantasies are all rooted in Americana. I’m completely taken by Yellowstone – the vastness, the mood, the rugged beauty. After watching the TV series, I became obsessed with the landscapes. It’s at the top of my list.

18. The Play

I recently watched The Lady From the Sea in the West End, with Joe Alwyn in the lead role, and it was extraordinary. Intimate, beautifully staged and performed with such nuance. It’s one of the best productions I’ve seen this year.

19. The Art Experience

I finally visited the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and it genuinely exceeded my expectations. I loved the way the museum moves you across eras and civilisations, showing the threads that connect them. Seeing references to Bahrain and Dilmuna throughout the curation felt incredibly special – a reminder of our region’s depth, beauty and history.

20. The App

Everything in my world comes back to SEPT – scaling it, refining it, building the ecosystem piece by piece. We’re developing next-gen sourcing infrastructure, expanding fine jewellery curation and growing a global personal shopper network. The ambition is very clear: to become the world’s leading commerce platform for luxury.
