The Background

From the Middle East to Europe and Asia, cuff bracelets have always been more than arm candy – they carried deep symbolic meaning for those who wore them. In ancient Egypt, gold and gemstone-encrusted cuffs signified power and status – similar to a talisman. In Greece, soldiers and aristocrats wore them as symbols of strength and honour. Also, in China, a cuff bracelet made from jade stone symbolised protection and purity. Over the centuries, the cuff bracelet has evolved beyond its ceremonial and social significance, transforming into a fashionable and timeless statement piece.

The 2025 Comeback

Modern designers continue to reinvent the statement cuff, experimenting with mixed metals, resin and rhinestones. Miu Miu’s Autumn/Winter ’25 collection showcased stone-embellished cuffs stacked high, while Fendi sculpted its signature ‘F’ in gold alongside whimsical pastel-accented designs. And, of course, there’s Alaïa – a house known for its futuristic, spherical cuffs, often styled over long sleeves.

How to Wear It Now

There are countless ways to style your cuff. For a chic office look, slip a metallic cuff over a crisp long-sleeve shirt and jeans for a bold touch. For evening, stack resin cuffs with a sleeveless dress for effortless elegance. Mixing materials is actively encouraged – pair a textured gold cuff with a wide silver one for a striking yet sophisticated statement.
