A Cool Jewellery Designer Talks Style, Sentiment, Craftsmanship & Power Dressing
One of my earliest and most vivid memories is sitting beside my mother as she opened her jewellery box. She would take me through each piece, telling me stories of how they belonged to my grandmother and great-grandmother – how they wore them during special occasions and passed them down through generations. There was such intimacy and legacy in that moment. I remember feeling completely captivated, almost like I was being let in on a secret thread that connected the women in our family.
I’ve always been drawn to style, more than pure design. I grew up in Riyadh in the 90s, then later moved to London. At the time, personal expression came down to the little things –like the chokers we layered or the oversized hoops we wore under abayas or uniforms. That’s where my love for fashion and styling began: using accessories to express identity. After business school, I joined Istituto Marangoni in London and realised I could turn that passion into a profession.
While I was at university, my grandmother gifted me a snake bracelet encrusted with rubies and diamonds. That piece has stayed with me throughout my journey. I wore it on my wedding day, and only later discovered that my grandmother had designed slightly different versions for other women in the family. It’s more than jewellery –it’s a symbol of strength and continuity.
After graduating from fashion school, I spent nearly a decade working as a fashion buyer with luxury brands like Armani, Max Mara and Fendi. Over time, I started to feel like true individuality in design was fading –everything was starting to look the same. Around the time I was preparing for my wedding, I was introduced to the incredible craftsmanship in Pakistan through my husband’s heritage. I remember walking into a jewellery shop and feeling overwhelmed by the artistry, the intricate stones and centuries-old techniques. That moment lit a spark in me. I knew I wanted to create a brand that celebrated traditional craftsmanship, but through a bold, modern lens. Lynyer was born from that mission: to make statement pieces that feel strong, intentional, and unapologetically powerful.
If I had to describe Lynyer’s aesthetic in three words, I would say: statement, maximalism, power. It’s about tapping into your inner avatar and expressing yourself without holding back. Our pieces are for the woman who creates her own path, not the one who follows trends.
Values play a huge role in how I design. I only work with small, family-run workshops in places like Lebanon, India and Thailand. These artisans bring generations of expertise to the craft, something you simply can’t replicate in mass production. The design process is collaborative.
I believe in seasonless style, our collections are designed to transcend trends. Most of our ear cuffs can even be transformed into earrings. In many ways, my style and the pieces I create are intertwined. I’m a mum and a business owner, so my day-to-day look is usually minimal – gold hoops or layered necklaces, even if I’m just going to Pilates or the nursery drop-off. But when I go out, the goddess in me emerges. That’s when I reach for bold chokers or sculptural earrings– something that turns heads and expresses the bolder side of me.
The Dahlia Earrings are my go-to. On days when I’m feeling uninspired or low on energy, I throw on a crisp white shirt, flared jeans, tie my hair back and let those earrings do the talking. They always lift my mood and make me feel like myself again.
Layering jewellery is such an intuitive part of how I get dressed. I’m always playing with the tension between the feminine and the masculine, the edgy and the romantic. If I choose a bold, sculptural necklace, I’ll often pair it with softer earrings or delicate rings to create harmony. I love mixing textures and lengths –layering a fine chain with a chunkier piece or pairing a soft pearl with a sharp cuff. It’s about creating visual rhythm and letting the jewellery tell a layered story that reflects my mood and energy that day. Sometimes I go all out with a very strong look and layer chokers together.
I love wedding season; it’s a chance to go all out. I usually wear a minimal, solid-colour dress and let the jewellery steal the show. The Ravi Hemisphere choker set is my favourite when I’m wearing a deep V neckline. If I’m going with a higher neckline, I’ll opt for bold earrings like theEnchanted Floral Drop Earrings or the Mystic Leaf Ear Cuff – paired with a sleek updo for balance. For days when I want to feel polished but put in minimal effort, I always reach for the Aurora Wave Hoops with the matching ear cuff. They elevate even the simplest outfit and are effortless to wear.
My ultimate power pieces? It’s either the Dahlia Earrings or the Lady Warrior Choker. Both instantly transform any look and command attention. I don’t have one piece I never take off. As a designer, I love switching things up, it’s part of the creative fun. I get bored easily (Aries energy), and I love discovering a new mood each day through my jewellery. That said, I do go through phases –like stacking my wedding ring with the Aurora rings, or lately, living in the Aurora Wave Hoops.
If I had to travel with just three Lynyer pieces, I’d take the Floral Vortex set. It’s very versatile, and the earrings feel elegant, while the choker adds edge and fun. Then the Aurora Wave Hoops with the matching ear cuffs as they transition easily from day to night. And finally, the Ravi Hemisphere Pearl choker, for moments when I want something a little more elegant.
The Ravi Collection is especially close to my heart. It was created using a centuries-old Indian technique known as rava, and to me, it beautifully symbolises the bridge between past and present. It’s a way of honouring traditional craftsmanship while reimagining it for the modern woman – bold, confident, and proud to carry a piece of history with her.
I’ve always been drawn to 24-karat gold plating. It has this rich, warm tone that brings such life and depth, especially when paired with Middle Eastern skin tones. It feels timeless, regal and grounding. In terms of stones, I have a deep love for pearls –soft yet powerful, feminine yet bold.
What brings me the most joy is seeing women who live and breathe fashion choose to wear Lynyer. Stylists like Jennifer Kolomoni, Lulu Dahmash and Rawan Kotoa –these are women with an exceptional eye, surrounded by some of the most beautiful brands in the world. So, when they repeatedly reach for our pieces, it tells me that Lynyer resonates. It means the design, the craftsmanship, and the spirit behind the brand are not just seen—but truly understood and celebrated.
Jewellery often marks moments in time, and I’m incredibly sentimental about the pieces I own. The snake bracelet gifted to me by my grandmother is one of my most cherished pieces – it’s rich with history and strength, and I even wore it on my wedding day. Wearing it that night felt like she was walking beside me. It was my ‘something old, something powerful’ and something full of love. Another special piece is a golden coin on a chain, known as lirat dahab, which my aunt gave me when I was born. It’s a traditional Arab token of blessing and celebration, and I treasure it deeply. And of course, there’s my wedding ring –a simple but powerful symbol of love and new beginnings. Each of these pieces tells a part of my story.
Nature is my forever muse. Living in Singapore, I’m surrounded by an abundance of tropical patterns, vibrant plants, and powerful natural forms – they constantly feed my imagination. I’m also inspired by strong women like Emme Grede and Bettina Looney. Those who live boldly, dress for themselves and carry their stories with confidence – I design for them.
I really admire brands that have a strong identity and commitment to craft. Globally, I’ve always appreciated the timeless boldness of Bulgari and the artistic vision of Schiaparelli. Regionally, I love how brands like Bil Arabi fuse culture and modernity in such a fresh, relevant way.
A dream project? A collaboration with a woman who embodies the strength and femininity of Lynyer. Someone who can channel the brand’s spirit while adding her own unique energy. Emme Grede instantly comes to mind – she’s a brilliant businesswoman and a true force in championing women, diversity and purpose-led brands. A partnership with someone like her would be powerful, aligned and creatively inspiring.
Start with your ‘why’. The jewellery industry is crowded, but if you’re deeply rooted in your purpose, it will shape everything –your designs, your brand voice and how you connect with your audience. Be patient, stay curious, and learn from the artisans who bring your vision to life. Consistency and authenticity are your most powerful tools. Also, listen to advice –but don’t blindly follow it. No one knows your brand like you do. Trust your instincts, even when they go against the grain. And above all, don’t copy what others are doing. The magic lies in being different. The world doesn’t need another trend – it needs your unique point of view.
What I hope people feel when they wear Lynyer is empowered. I want every woman to feel like the boldest version of herself – unapologetically expressive, deeply rooted, and ready to take up space.
