Aliee, Istanbul

Aliée is Istanbul’s most exciting new opening – a cinematic, design-led hotel that blends east with west. Set on a historic site overlooking the Bosphorus, its restored Roman ruins and stone walls are complemented by muted tones and glass-framed views. THE ARCHITECTURAL FEAT:

Maison Heler, Metz

You wouldn’t be wrong for thinking this new hotel by revered architect Philippe Starck looks like something form the latest series of Netflix’s Wednesday, with its gothic turrets and striking façade. Maison Heler isn’t just a hotel, it’s a habitable work of art. The nine-storey monolith in Metz, France, is crowned with a 19th-century-style mansion, perched high above the city. Inside, 104 rooms and suites are dressed in noble materials and poetic details, with secret messages hidden in the closets and panoramic views from the rooftop restaurant, La Maison de Manfred. Located next to the Centre Pompidou-Metz, it’s a bold, imaginative escape that blurs the line between architecture, storytelling and hospitality.
