Shopping Destinations
“If we could only shop in one store in Dubai… It would be online! Since we moved to Dubai, our go-tos have become Ounass and THAT Concept Store. At Ounass, everything is delivered within two hours of ordering – the convenience is unmatched!” – Mariam
“The coolest jewellery boutique in the region is Comptoir 102. It has a great selection of jewellery and amazing brands that we have always been inspired by, including Noor Fares.” – Dania
"The best destination for small, independent and lesser-known brands is something we are still discovering. We found lots of emerging brands and concept boutiques in Zurich and London when we were living there. My favourite vintage store in Zurich was Love At The Bus Stop, as well as Fidelio Kleider and Tasoni. In London I really like Koibird, Alex Eagle, Lovers Lane for anything vintage and Machine A." – Dania
"The most unexpected destination for great fashion in Dubai is is Caravana Concept Store. It’s located at The Courtyard in Al Quoz, which is a very pretty location. It’s a must-visit place – our good friend Soraya Bakhtiar is a curator for Caravana and she has great taste and sources amazing brands from all over the world. Expect a mix of international labels and local brands such as Pocca, By Teya and Celia, plus a good selection of vintage denim. I love that there’s a lot of colour involved, which is so in line with Dubai’s vibrancy." – Dania
Favourite Designers
“Our go-to brand for spring/summer is Alaïa. For me there’s also JW Anderson and Marni – it’s so hard for me to pick just one as I love to mix and match!” – Dania
“For me, it has to be Marques Almeida. I love everything it does and I have been buying from the brand since it first started. The brand makes incredible silhouettes that are a combination of sexy and oversized. I love how the brand plays with around with denim and pieces can be worn from day to night.” – Mariam
Favourite High-Street Brands
"We love to pick up basics from H&M, Skims and Oysho – and I really wish there was a Uniqlo in Dubai. I always find H&M to be long lasting and I like the different labels such as Conscious and Studio and how it collaborates with so many brands. My top H&M collabs so far have been with Margiela, Paco Rabanne and Matthew Williamson." – Dania
"I love getting my basics from COS and Skims. From COS its always white shirts and from Skims, it’s ultra-soft lounge wear, leggings and body suits." – Mariam
New Discoveries
“Our most recent discovery is Pascale Monvoisin. I love the rings! I found it on NET-A-PORTER, where there’s a great selection with amazing stones.” – Dania
"There’s also TOGA! I re-discovered the brand on Farfetch – as I remember them being in the same show room as us in Paris in 2015. The boots really stand out to me and I love that they use a lot of studs on leather." – Mariam
Vintage
"My favourite vintage buys have to be my Gianni Versace dress and my purple Mugler blazer. The dress is from the 90s and it has gold Versace buttons on the sides and cut-out details – it’s ankle length, so it’s both sexy and elegant. It was one of the dresses that was around at the same time the safety pin dress became famous." – Mariam
"My favourite vintage pieces I’ve ever bought are my YSL electric blue blazer with beautiful gold buttons and a John Galliano newspaper top." – Dania
"I once gifted Dania a fabulous vintage Escada jacket. It feels like wearing a piece of jewellery. I love the baby elephants all around it. It takes me back to my mother’s closet and her love for the label." – Mariam
Places We Love
"My perfect shopping day would be an outdoor market place – I love rummaging through loads of stuff and finding gems. We used to love walking around and discovering stores in Europe when we lived there, but ever since we moved to Dubai, that changed and online shopping now plays a big role in how we shop." – Mariam
“The best place for people watching is Foundry Downtown – I love working from there. The best place for coffee is Seven Fortunes – it does excellent coffee and matcha.” – Dania
“I love Brew – not only does it have good coffee but it also has the best desserts. Then there’s Feels by the beach, which is so good on Sundays.” – Mariam
Top Restaurants
“The best restaurant in the city is Kiku in Le Meridien. Its Japanese cuisine is out of this world. The coolest spot has to be French Riviera at the Al Qasr hotel – it’s very relaxed and makes you feel like you’re on holiday.” – Dania
“We both love TOMO at Raffles. I feel it’s a hidden gem as it’s in old Dubai and the view overlooks the skyline. It’s a traditional Japanese restaurant and makes for the perfect dinner get away from the chaos of downtown. I’d say the coolest spot is Itadaku – it’s a great Japanese right in the middle of Dubai.”
Best Hotels
“The Mandarin Oriental never disappoints! It’s beautiful, with great restaurants, a stunning beach and always-on service.”
“I love the Bvlgari as it doesn’t feel like you’re in Dubai – it’s not loud or too buzzy!” – Mariam
