The Best Places To Sleep In Jeddah

With more and more international travellers discovering Saudi Arabia, some of our favourite hotel brands have arrived in Jeddah. Their understanding of contemporary luxury is a glorious match for the kingdom’s traditional sense of hospitality…

The Jeddah Edition

The Edition group’s third Middle Eastern property stands proud on the Jeddah Waterfront in a typewriter-shaped building. Close to the Yacht Club, the Marina and the city’s Formula 1 circuit, it has 52 rooms and 11 suites. Each one comes with the contemporary touches the group has become known for – including Le Labo toiletries, faux fur throws and custom homewares – and a balcony for taking in the Red Sea air. Chef Cédric Vongerichten has created a French-Asian menu for the restaurant. The gym is 24-hour access, with a spa on its way in 2025, and everything is crowned by a rooftop pool.

Rosewood Jeddah

Right on the waterfront, the Rosewood rises high about Jeddah’s famous Corniche in a landmark cylindrical tower. Rooms make the most of the Red Sea views and are appropriately plush for this luxe group, and there has also been some serious investment in the dining options. The rooftop Al Malaki terrace is the spot for a romantic dinner. There’s the Habsburg for laid-back all-day dining or Soleil for something ritzier. For men only, there’s an outdoor pool, well-equipped fitness centre and massage options.

Intercontinental Jeddah

It’s hard to choose the defining water feature at the Intercontinental Jeddah: is it the King Fahad fountain – the tallest of its type in the world – or the Red Sea itself? Offering fine views of both, its classically styled rooms are oases of calm amid the bustle of the desert kingdom’s second city. Standout dining options here include Spears for Brazilian BBQ and the Fish Market restaurant. There’s also a spa and outdoor pool – and with the sea so close, jet skiing and scuba diving are easily arranged.

Shangri-La Jeddah

Right on the Red Sea, Shangri-La Jeddah makes the most of its location with floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies. As well as just over 200 rooms and suites, including some deluxe options with marble bathrooms, the hotel has 17 serviced apartments offering the same high level of luxury. Among the various restaurants and lounges, Shang Palace stand out for its finely tuned Chinese menus that run from dim sum platters to the now classic black cod. Cutting-edge gyms and spas cater separately to men and women.

Part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, the Hotel Galleria is a rare downtown option close to the city’s Tahlia shopping district. The neoclassical building is Italian inspired. Inside, Café Milano makes good on its name with pastries and fine coffee, while the main restaurant is built around an open kitchen. There’s an outdoor pool on the roof, as well as a fitness centre and spa.

Jeddah Hilton

On the waterfront, halfway along the Jeddah Corniche, the Jeddah Hilton is one of the best placed hotels in the city. The Red Sea Mall is close by, while downtown and historic Al-Balad are in easy reach. In-house dining options cover the globe, from Café Vienna for pastries to Ginger Leaf for high-level Indian and the Manhattan Sport Diner for something all-American. Sporting facilities are extensive: as well as indoor and outdoor pools, there are tennis and squash courts.

Park Hyatt Jeddah

Another five-star hub on the city’s waterfront Corniche, the low-rise Park Hyatt catches the eye with some colourful in-room artwork. Its Nafoura restaurant has a clubbable atmosphere and a sprawling outdoor terrace, while Spanish option Andalusia looks straight out to sea. The big draw here might be the Evania Ladies’ Spa. While men can use a separate sports and wellness centre, this expansive facility offers relaxation rooms, hydrotherapy suites and an array of healing treatments. The property also has the country’s only women-only outdoor pool.

The Ritz-Carlton Jeddah

The Jeddah outpost of the luxe Ritz-Carlton brand looks right onto King Fahad’s Fountain. Classical architecture and well-appointed rooms help it make a glamorous statement of its own. Standout service starts with the doormen and extends into a pair of fine-dining restaurants – try Akira Back for bold fusions of Korean and Japanese flavours or Flame lays on a spectacular surf-and-turf outdoor buffet each evening. The men-only spa has three treatment rooms and a menu of rejuvenating options to choose from.
