A Chic Jewellery Founder’s Favourite Products, Places & More
My day starts early. I then head to the gym for strength training – I try to work out every day, Monday to Friday. After I shower, I get dressed – my current uniform is leopard-print trousers, a well-loved Vivienne Westwood t-shirt and Chanel flip-flops. I always finish with jewellery and I love stacking my Herobjects mini hero 18k gold heart and pomegranate necklaces, which I never take off.
I usually stop for coffee at Blue Camel before heading to the studio I share with my sister. I also really rate Locals in Jeddah. It does the best matcha and coffee. My order is usually an iced matcha coconut milk with a dash of honey. My days are a balance between the creative work and business side of Herobjects. I move between these two sides constantly, checking in with my production workshop in Thailand, my team in London and PR team in Dubai. I also see my best friend every day – usually later in the afternoon or evening.
A restaurant that everyone needs to try at least once is Sushi Amamoto in Mayfair, London. It has a superb omakase ‘I’ll leave it up to the chef’ experience. Closer to home, Kuuru in Jeddah combines such unique flavours, Al Basali does fantastic seafood and when I’m in Paris (one of my favourite cities in the world) you can find me at Arcane 17.
If you’re visiting Saudi for the first time, there are a few places you simply can’t skip. AlUla is a must-visit for its spectacular canyons and incredible stargazing. In Jeddah, it’s interesting to explore the culture and history of Al-Balad before experiencing the beauty of the Red Sea. I’d also highly recommend stopping in Riyadh – I believe every capital city deserves to be explored. There’s always so much going on there and it has a real buzz.
One city that never ceases to inspire me is Florence in Italy. With its beautiful combination of art, architecture and history, it feels like a city that never changes. I like staying at Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel. Rome is another city everyone should visit at least once. Art, history and culture come together at every turn, making it one of the most immersive experiences you can have. Every time I go, I stay at Hotel de Russie.
My favourite museum is Tate Modern in London. The scale of the building alone fascinates me and it hosts wonderful exhibitions. I always make a point of visiting when I’m in the capital.
For a relaxing reset in Saudi, go to the Red Sea. Growing up in Jeddah, the beach was a big part of my life and the St. Regis Red Sea Resort is pure bliss. Further afield, the Maldives is my ultimate escape; I think Soneva Fushi is my favourite hotel in the world. Surrounded by nature, it’s the most luxurious destination for switching off.
One opening I’m looking forward to is the Ithra Cultural Center and Museum in Dammam. It has an inspiring exhibition called Bedayat: Beginnings of Saudi Art Movement. It is a historical look at the emergence and evolution of modern art in Saudi Arabia from the 1960s through to the 1980s.
My all-time favourite beauty spot has to be the Corinthia Hotel in London. The Biome spa is incredible. I like booking a half-day there – it’s a great way to take some time out from the city. I recommend the Full Body Regeneration treatment by Augustinus Bader.
Three of my top favourite beauty products at the moment include the Tower 28 SOS spray – a life saver, the Biodance Bio-C Real Deep mask which I wear overnight and Moonglaze’s Moods Water Lip Tint in the shade ‘Sugarcoated’.
Saudi Arabia is home to so many exciting fashion labels. Three that stand out to me include Abadia, Ashi Studio and Yasmina Q. My most recent fashion purchase was a Gucci tank top with horsebit logo detail, while one of my most treasured pieces is a custom turquoise necklace by Lebanese designer Donna Hourani. Engraved on the back is a saying my late father often repeated: contentment is a non-ending treasure.
The Conran Shop in London is always on my list. I love that it feels like a place to discover rather than just shop. There’s always such an interesting mix of furniture, ceramics, objects and little unexpected and well-designed details. I’m always drawn to spaces and objects that have real character and a story behind them.
British artist Tracey Emin is someone I’m often inspired by. I love how personal and honest her work is. She turns very intimate experiences and emotions into something powerful and universally collective. I admire how she doesn’t shy away from vulnerability and how her work feels raw, imperfect and completely her own.
