Product Spotlight: MILK Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tints
THE HYPE
MILK’s new Cooling Water Jelly Tints are finally here. Having dropped in the US two weeks ago, they had a 45,000-person waiting list, and sold out on Sephora.com within 24 hours.
So, why the hype? These multipurpose lip and cheek stains have a texture that’s unlike anything else. Bouncy and reminiscent of gelatine-based deserts, they’re sturdy enough to make them easy to work with. Fans of the brand will find the texture is similar to its bestselling Cooling Water. The key difference is the colour, as well as the nourishing and hydrating ingredients.
Providing a long-lasting but sheer hit of colour that’s easy to blend out, there’s a shade in the range to suit all skin types and tones. Plus, it’s estimated each one will last for more than 1,000 swipes, so you get your money’s worth.
THE FORMULA
Created with seawater, aloe and vegan collagen, the formula is nourishing and hydrating. As you apply it, you’ll find it feels cooling against your skin. There’s sorbitol and polysaccharides in there too, which experts say enhance the refreshing effects.
There are four vivid tones to choose from: ‘Burst’ (a poppy pink), ‘Spritz’ (a soft coral), ‘Splash’ (a vivid berry) and ‘Chill’ (a rich red). Each one has a watercolour-like finish that’s long-lasting and smudge-proof. Our favourite is Chill – it gives skin a beautiful rosy flush that looks natural and healthy.
THE BEST WAY TO USE THEM
Though sheer, these tints are very pigmented. Dab a little onto your complexion then blend out with a brush or a sponge to build the colour up gradually. A damp sponge is perfect – the added moisture gives you a bit more time to play, without changing the lasting power of the stain. Just make sure you squeeze any excess moisture out of the sponge before you start. As for the lips, you can simply swipe these on and go – just make sure lips are prepped and smoothed to help the pigmented formula adhere properly.
